First Impressions Matter

“When we were first visiting One Lake, right at the entrance was when we knew this was a special place. It felt like a fresh and modern resort, yet there was an inviting sense to it.”

RJ was working from his Fairfield home when he saw an ad pop up for a brand new master-planned community in town. As the owner of his fifth new-construction home, the One Lake living experience was intriguing. He and his partner, Jorge, decided to take the 20-minute drive to visit the development. Once they saw the distinctive architecture and nearby Amtrak Station—it felt as if the stars were aligning, and everything unfolded perfectly from there.

“The stunning design of the Glass House reminded us of a national park, and it was so clear that every detail was thoughtfully crafted with care.”

After touring Plan 1 at Shimmer by Tri Pointe Homes, they knew it was the home for them. The vaulted entry was airy and welcoming at the same time. They could imagine the celebrations and casual get-togethers in the large, open-concept great room—as both of their families live only an hour away. And they could opt for a first-floor suite in lieu of a private study should RJ’s mother decide she would like to live with them.

“It’s a place that really draws you in. The home is spacious and well-sized, and the architectural details are unlike anything you see at any other cookie-cutter neighborhood.”

There was no need to wait. It felt as if Shimmer were made for them, so they immediately went about getting on the list to purchase and selling their current home. They were fortunately able to sell after one open house, which led them to checking out other neighborhoods in case the phone didn’t ring with their dream home at One Lake. Luckily it did—and as they were touring another community nearby.

“It was like a movie moment—the phone rang at the right time, and everything just fell right into place. We drove to One Lake right away to make our picks, and we got the lot, elevation, options and everything else we wanted.”

They’ve just moved into their brand new home and couldn’t be more excited to make it their own, whether it’s RJ bringing his keen eye for interior design or Jorge cooking the kind of incredible meals that make a house feel like home. And they’re beyond thrilled to be part of such a unique living experience at One Lake.

“We love to walk around the 21-acre Lake-Park District and spend time at Journey Coffee Co., but we also love seeing residents and visitors simply enjoying this beautiful space.”

There’s so much that separates One Lake from the rest, and RJ and Jorge have been so impressed with the thoughtful planning that went into this development, from the diverse-yet-complementary architecture to the easy flow of getting around the community.

“Everything makes sense here, and it feels so real. It’s very clear that McKinley Partners put their heart and soul into this unique development, and Tri Pointe Homes has been phenomenal to work with as well. We just can’t wait to get into the lifestyle.”
